Cook the Book: The Calamity Club

Thanks for contacting us. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Join us in the Teaching Kitchen as we continue our Cook the Book series with the perfect pairing: Red Stick Spice X Red Stick Reads! The purchase price of this class includes a copy of The Calamity Club. Participants will pick up their book from Red Stick Reads at 3829 Government St. in Mid City Baton Rouge.

Join Anne along with James & Theresa fromRed Stick Reads in the Teaching Kitchen for an exploration of the New York Times Bestseller The Calamity Club. This big-hearted, often hilarious novel follows Meg, an “unadoptable” eleven-year-old at the local orphanage, Birdie, an outspoken young woman with family troubles of her own, and Charlie, a woman with a past and little left to lose. Together they hatch an audacious plan to take back control of their lives. Our discussion will cover the characters, the Southern setting, the hypocrisy and hard truths, the friendships and that unforgettable ending.

This is a hybrid hands-on cooking class with cooking demo led by our chefs - you’ll spend about 30 minutes cooking then move onto the book discussion. The class includes a full meal and discussion led by James & Theresa of Red Stick Reads. Plus, you'll walk away with a packet full of recipes and a store discount for in store or online shopping.
