Cloves (Whole)

Native to tropical regions, Cloves are the unopened flower bud of an Evergreen Tree making it one of the "Flower Spices." Cloves have been used for centuries both in culinary applications and medicinal. Because of their numbing properties, dentists used them on patients before procedures. Thank goodness for modern medicine!

Cloves have a rich, exotic aroma and flavor. They're used widely in African and Asian cooking. Cloves can be found in mulling spices as well as pumpkin pie and apple pie blends. Along with pineapple, Cloves are the traditional way to stud a ham for sultry spiciness to accompany the sweetness of the pineapple.
