Spicy, fragrant and oh so flavorful - that's the essence of Ethiopian cuisine. This plant-centric cooking style incorporates aromatic ginger and garlic along with warm spices and the delicious spice blend Berbere. This class will be a exploration of flavor under the careful guidance of Sam Ghebreyesus. 

Meet your instructor: Samuel Ghebreyesus. Sam grew up in Ethiopia, Africa. His passion for food began by watching his Mother and Aunt in the kitchen as they prepared the beloved traditional dishes of his childhood. When life’s journey brought him to Baton Rouge, he honed his cooking skills by learning to prepare the Cajun and Creole dishes of the region. As a former vegan of twelve years he also loves to cook vegan and vegetarian foods. A self-taught cook, Samuel enjoys making home cooked meals incorporating fresh ingredients and bright flavors for family and friends.

Shiro Wot (Powdered Chickpea Stew)
Misir Kik Wot (Split Red Lentil Stew)
Alicha (Cabbage, Carrots, Onion with Spices, Ginger and Garlic)
Fosollia (String Beans and Carrots with Garlic & Jalapeno)
Gomen (Sauteed Collar Greens)
Keysir Salad (Beet & Potato Salad)
Azifa (Green Lentil Salad)
Dinich Wot (Potato Stew)

This class is for participants 16 and up. Teenagers must be accompanied by an adult; both the teenager and accompanying adult must purchase a class seat.

CLASS TRANSFER POLICY: No Refunds. If you are unable to attend this class, you may request a transfer to move your reservation to another class. However these requests must be received seven (7) working days in advance of the class date. If your request is made after seven (7) working days, we will not be able to accommodate your transfer request. You may, however, pass along your place in this class to another person. Planning and staffing takes place well in advance of each cooking class; therefore, we are unable to offer refunds.
