With holiday season upon us, you'll likely find yourself with house guests to feed. Consider oatmeal (yes, oatmeal!) as a way to feed a crowd. Hold the oatmeal in a slow cooker, and set up a bar of toppings so everyone can customize their bowl. This Chai-spiced Oatmeal is a great flavor base that loves nuts, dark brown sugar and berries on top.
Ingredients:
Long or quick cooking oatmeal
Generous pinch of salt for the cooking water
Milk--cow's, almond, soy, coconut...your choice (optional)
Sugar (optional)
Directions:
Cook the desired amount of oatmeal according to cooking directions. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water--about 1/4 tsp. After oatmeal is cooked, adjust the consistency with water or the milk of your choice. Add 1/2 tsp Vanilla Puree and 1/2 tsp Chai Spice Blend for every cup of oatmeal that you cooked. (For example, if you cooked 1 cup dry oatmeal, add 1/2 tsp Vanilla Puree and 1/2 tsp Chai Spice Blend.) At this time, you can sweeten the oatmeal a bit with granulated sugar, if desired. Set out with a toppings bar. See our suggestions below...
