Summer Peach Smoothie with Turmeric and Cinnamon

Turmeric is the key gorgeous golden yellow hue in curries. There's been tons of buzz about turmeric in recent years because of its health benefits. It's been used for centuries in many cultures as a medicinal herb. Curcumin is the main component in Turmeric, and it has proven anti-inflammatory properties. This smoothie is a great way to get Turmeric in your diet. We love the slight mustard-like, peppery quality the Turmeric lends. Make this smoothie for breakfast...a great way to start your day!

Makes 2 Servings

Ingredients:

3 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced (fresh or frozen)

2 frozen bananas

1 cup Almond Milk

1/2 cup orange or apple juice

1 Tbl Honey

1 tsp Turmeric

1/2 tsp Korintje Cinnamon

1/4 tsp Ground Ginger

Pinch Vanilla Bean Salt

Ice

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and serve.

This smoothie would work really well with mango. Halve the amount of peaches and add mango. Many other fruits would work, but turmeric's bright gold color doesn't always blend well with dark colored fruits like strawberries and blueberries. But if you don't mind the gray-ish color, go for it! Makes for a delicious smoothie!
